The 2016 Festival launches with the luscious sights, smells and tastes of The Balham Banquet from 11am to 5pm on Sunday 25th September in Hildreth Street and Bedford Hill Place.
Visitors to the event will be able to enjoy delicious streetfood and delicacies from over 40 local stallholders, restaurants and venues.
There’ll be Nepalese dumplings; artisan scotch eggs; craft beers; award-winning curries; filled Yorkshire puddings; BBQ lamb; smoothies; Halloumi wraps; cakes; noodles; artisan cheeses; Champagne; sweets; slow-roasted pork belly baps, mackerel on toast and so much more. TV chef Jimmy Garcia will be there too, once again bringing a five-course tasting menu to Hildreth Street.
To entertain festival-goers while they eat, the unflappable Tony Moore will be hosting a continuous array of live performances in Bedford Hill Place, including himself, the Thumping Tommys, ILONA, The Balham Ukelele Society, Funky Dance Moves, the Balhamonics, and singer/songwriter Mark Sullivan. Meanwhile, in the Like Minders Kids Zone, children can enjoy the Ministry of Giggles, Musical Adventurists, face-painting and Dee Light’s cookie-decorating classes.
Last year’s event was exceptionally busy with a wonderful community atmosphere: we expect more of the same.
Arrive hungry; leave happy!
